About Our Images
The room photos on Rafter Lane’s idea pages are concept images made with AI (ChatGPT Images). None of them shows a real room. This page explains what they’re for, how we check each one, and where the site uses drawings or real photos instead.
What a concept image shows
A concept image shows what a kind of room could look like: a narrow three-season room, a screened porch with a vaulted ceiling, a patio enclosure with sliding panels. It doesn’t show a real home, a finished project or a product from a particular brand. Each one has a “Concept image” label underneath, so you always know which pictures are concepts.
What they’re never used for
- Next to a price, as if the room in the picture cost that much
- Before-and-after pictures
- Photos of damage or repairs
- Branded products
When a page needs to show something real, we use a drawing made in code or a licensed real photo, with its source, license and date in the caption.
How we check each image
An AI image can look flawless and still show a room nobody could build. Before an image goes up, we check it against how the room would actually be built:
- Where rainwater runs off the roof
- Whether frames and glass line up
- Whether the posts could carry the roof
- Whether the screen grid is consistent
- Whether doors and furniture are the right size
An image that fails doesn’t get touched up. We make it again from scratch or drop it.
The style
We make the images look like a magazine’s concept shoot. We leave out phone-snapshot looks, “our porch” captions and realistic people on purpose, because they would suggest a real homeowner’s room.
Labels stay on
ChatGPT Images adds Content Credentials (C2PA metadata) that record an image as AI-made. We leave them in. On Pinterest, our own pins carry Pinterest’s AI label.
Drawings and tables are not AI
We build the section drawings, diagrams and cost tables in code from manufacturer documents and collected quotes. Our Method explains how.
Saving and questions
You can save any concept image to Pinterest with its Save button; the pin links back to the page it came from. If an image looks wrong to you, email [email protected].
